Introducing new book “Imperfect Leadership”

Are you tired of trying to be everything to everyone? šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø I know I was. At the end of 2019 I collapsed physically and mentally due to stress and overwork.

šŸ›‘ This burnout caused me to experience severe joint pain, brain fog that took two weeks of memory, an extra 15 kilos I didnā€™t need, and threw me into a deep depression.

šŸ˜¶ā€šŸŒ«ļø It was only after 4 weeks of not working and resting that the pain and brain fog started to lift. And it was only after 12 months of behaviour change, including adding boundaries, when I began to feel like my old self again.

I know burnout. I know I never want to experience that again.

šŸ“– So I wrote a book about the link between the unreasonable leadership expectations we put on ourselves and burnout.

And here it is.

Written as a fable with Samual a busy and burnt out leader at the centre. Join Samual as he goes on an adventure with his guide to learn that being an imperfect leader can save your life and make you whole.

Thanks for your continued support as I work on my imperfect leadership practices.

Update: Discovering that elements of my life that I thought were quirks or dysfunctions, were actually symptoms of neurodivergence impacts me through mixed emotions. I used to think life was just hard and others had a handbook I didn’t have, now I know that is … well kind of true… so this is the life ‘handbook’ I wrote for myself, not realising I was addressing something much bigger than me, really I just wanted a better life.
